Biographical history

Commander George Eyre Powell, RN (1790-1855), of Colyton, Devon, married Catherine Kingdon in about 1820. Their children were George Eyre Powell, junior (1820-1836), Ophelia Catherine Powell (1823-1866), Laura Hirtzel Powell (1828-1901), Lavinia Powell (1831-1856) and Delia Powell-Sweetland (1833-1923). In 1856 Ophelia married David Lewis Evans (1813-1902), then minister of the Unitarian church in Colyton. Their children were George Eyre Evans, David Lewis Evans, junior (1859-1893), and Catherine Powell Evans (1860-1918).

David Lewis Evans, 1846-1902; letters and notes relating to Welsh Unitarianism, 1806-1905; letters by and about ministers, 1775-1904; miscellaneous manuscripts of religious and antiquarian interest, some relating to Wales and to Colyton; and a volume of proceedings of the General Assembly of General Baptist Churches, 1730-1787.
