Biographical history

Miss Flora ('Florrie') Hamer (1903-94) was born in Bow Street, Cardiganshire, moving to Penrhyn-coch at the age of six. Her grandfather, Daniel Hamer, was a builder and songwriter who built St John's Church, Penrhyn-coch. Florrie Hamer was a member of St John's Church and, for 60 years, a Sunday School teacher. She was interested in local history and in the gentry houses of Cardiganshire, including Plas Tanybwlch. She died on 26 March 1994.

Scrapbooks of photographs, notes and press cuttings, 1862-1992, relating to Penrhyn-coch and to St John's Church; an essay by Florrie Hamer's aunt, Sarah Ann Hamer, concerning the history of St John's, 1897; accounts and balance sheets, 1930-1988, of St John's Church; undated notes relating to the Church and to Penrhyn-coch, [1909x1989]; notebook, 1925-1931, of Daniel Hamer; and letters, 1964-1965, to Florrie Hamer concerning Plas Tanybwlch, Aberystwyth.
