Note

Originally known as the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture, the voluntary organisation now known as Freedom from Torture was established in the 1980s, developing out of Amnesty International's Medical Group. It provides medical treatment, counselling and therapy as well as documenting evidence of torture and campaigning against human rights violations. The organisation has greatly expanded over the years and now has four centres in England and one in Scotland. The current London premises located at Isledon Road near Finsbury Park are one of the few purpose-built treatment centres for torture survivors in the world.
