Catalogue of books, etc., in the Llannerch Library

A catalogue of the books, pamphlets, manuscripts and writings of John Davies of Llannerch, Denbighshire, taken 1778. The books are catalogued according to size. The occasion for the compilation of this catalogue was a lease for fifteen years of Llannerch Hall granted by John Davies to the Rev. William Davies Shipley, dean of St Asaph. Also preserved within this volume are four leaves containing a catalogue of the manuscripts in the Llannerch Library, taken in 1740.

Notebooks of A. Foulkes-Roberts, [c. 1882]-[1941], containing extracts from parish registers, mainly from Denbighshire and Flintshire; transcripts of tombstone inscriptions and church memorials, copies of probate records from the Dioceses of Bangor and St Asaph, and the Principal Probate Registry; and notes and extracts from marriage licence bonds, clergy subscription books and other St Asaph diocesan records. The copies were made by A. Foulkes-Roberts and his brother R.D. Roberts.

A collection of twenty-eight folk-songs, mostly with words, noted by Mrs [later Lady] Ruth Herbert Lewis, collected in Flintshire and Denbighshire in 1910-1911. Thirteen of the songs are published in her Folk-songs collected in Flintshire and the Vale of Clwyd (Wrexham, 1914) or Journal of the Welsh Folk-song Society, 1 (1909-12) and 2 (1914-25).

The transcript was made at the County Offices, Ruthin, in November 1936. Inset are a typewritten copy of the article on the award by W. Lloyd Davies which appeared in the Bulletin of the Board of Celtic Studies, Vol. IX, pp. 247-71, and a 'pull' of the map accompanying the article.
