History

Wayne David (b. 1957), Labour politician, was the Labour MEP for South Wales, and later South Wales Central constituency of the European Parliament, 1989-1997. He was Vice President of the European Parliament Regional Policy committee, and leader of the European Parliamentary Labour Party. He gave up his European seat in 1999 to unsuccessfully contest the Rhondda constituency in the National Assembly of Wales elections in 1999. He was elected the Member of Parliament for Caerphilly in 2001.
