Scope and content
[Daniel Evans], 'Danl Ddu o Geredigion', Maesnewydd, near Lampeter, to Mr Taliesin Williams (Ab Iolo), Merthyr Tudfyl. Availing himself of an opportunity to write him a few lines in haste. Not being aware of this convenience he sent the papers off on Saturday. With regard to the honour which the addressee has been so kind as to propose to confer on him it is his humble opinion that perhaps it may appear as a thing unconnected with the clerical profession to seek for Druidic honours. Is glad to hear that Tegid's englyn has been properly printed in the second part of the printed work connected with the Cardiff Eisteddfod. Mr David Saunders is in Cardiganshire and appears, the writer understands, very ill and worn out by age. Has read the advertisement respecting poor Gwilym Morganwg (in the Merthyr Guardian) and hopes something will be sent in worthy of the poor Bard.
