Biographical history

David Morgan Richards (1853-1913), journalist and 'eisteddfodwr', was born near Llanon, Ceredigion. He worked as a representative of the Merthyr Express and the South Wales Daily News and was active within the Welsh community. He is best remembered for his Rhestr Eisteddfodau hyd 1901, which was published posthumously in 1914.

Note

NLW MSS 7292-7315 consist of material collected by Richards in connection with his study of 'eisteddfodau', etc. held in Wales and elsewhere. After the death of the compiler the material was examined by John Davies, a member of the staff of the National Library of Wales, and the substance of the work (as far as the year 1901) published as Rhestr eisteddfodau hyd y flwyddyn 1901 gyda nodiadau ar amryw ohonynt ... (Llandyssul, 1914).
