The volume may have been acquired via John Owen of Bodsilin, Anglesey (d. 1611/12), who was secretary to Walsingham and first husband of Elin Maurice (d. 1626) of Brogyntyn (see Griffith's Pedigrees, pp. 136, 218), or with the manuscripts of Charles Bill, who was secretary to Henry Cobham's brother, William Brooke, 10th baron Cobham (see Brogyntyn MSS II.12, II.16; Brogyntyn MS II.12, pp. 2-8, contains an elegy, 1567, for Walter Haddon whose widow, Anne, later married Sir Henry Cobham). Signature of John Caborne, of Saltfleetby, Lincolnshire, BA from Queens College, Cambridge, 1636/7, MA 1640, will proved 1657 (v. Alumni Cantabrigiensis, Index of PCC Wills, and Lincolnshire Pedigrees (Harleian Society Publications no. 50, London 1902), p. 223) on f. 27.
