The series comprises general letters to Eirene White, 1928-1999, a small group of drafts and copies of letters from her, 1936-1995, a few stray letters, 1947-1985, and a few files of letters on specific themes, 1989-1995. The letters follow the course of Eirene White's career, her political posts and other interests. There is a mingling of political and personal letters. The correspondents include many prominent politicians and public figures.

Arranged by donation: files P1/1-21 constitute the 2000 and 2001 donations; files P1/22-26 constitute the 2003 donation. Files P1/1-15 (letters to Eirene White) are arranged chronologically by and within each file apart from P1/15 which contains undated letters. The remaining six files in the first donation (P1/16-P1/21) are arranged chronologically by and within each file. Files P1/22-26 (letters to Eirene White) are arranged chronologically by and within each file.
