Continuation of his continental tour in Italy (Genoa, Florence, Rome, Naples) and return journey through France including a stay in Paris, 18 Dec. 1850 - 28 Apr. 1851 (pp. 1-82); continuation of Arthur's entanglement with Miss De Burgh, her marriage with Lord Ward and their separation, 18 Dec. 1850 - 8 July 1851 (pp. 2-98 passim, 107-8); visits to co. Rad., 5-10 Oct. 1850 (pp. 117-22) including references to politics in the borough of Radnor; 13-21 Apr. 1851 (pp. 208-11) where he was canvassing, 30 June - 16 July 1852 (pp. 219-25) for the election campaign, and 16-18 Aug. 1852 for a lieutenancy meeting; meeting with Macaulay and an account by him of his meeting with Thiers, 4 Dec. 1851 (pp. 185-7).
