A parchment roll, written in England, [13 cent., second ½], containing the pedigree-chronicle of biblical history attributed to Peter of Poitiers [Petrus Pictaviensis]. Text is written in textura; ink, dark brown. The scribe uses red and blue for display script; two-line initials in blue.

Decoration: There are drawings, in ink, of good quality, coloured predominantly in green and yellow, namely, at the head, the full width of the roll (225 x 245 mm.): Christ in majesty in a mandorla which is supported by four angels contained in roundels in the four corners; below, the seven-branched candlestick. Illustrating the text, mostly in roundels of about 100 mm. in diameter: the Fall, Noah's ark, Abraham sacrificing Isaac (reproduced in colour in Y Beibl yng Nghymru / The Bible in Wales (Aberystwyth, 1988), plate 3), Moses and Aaron, David and Bathsheba, the blinding of Sedethias [sic, sc. Zedekiah], diagram of the temple at Jerusalem, the Nativity, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection. Lines of descent are in green and yellow.
