The inside, upper cover bears the bookplate of the Library of the C[alvinistic] M[ethodist] College, Bala, and the fly-leaf has two inscriptions, denoting that the volume had previously been in the possession of John Elias ['o Fôn', Calvinistic Methodist minister]. The first of these reads 'John Elias, Shopkeeper, Llanfechell, Anglesea's Book, 1799', and the second, in the hand of John Elias himself, 'I Bought this exellent Book of John Davies in the year 1797, now that Emminent, Labourious, and usefull Missionary in Eimeo, one of the South Sea Islands. J. Elias, Jan[uar]y 12th, 1819'.
