Paper; 164 pp., unnumbered; 147 x 90; sheepskin; XVIIth-XVIIIth cent.; English and Latin. A commonplace book bearing the signature 'William Lloyd: 1668'. The contents include a Latin epitaph on Charles I by Thomas Pierce, D.D., president ('praeses') of Magdalen College, Oxford; lines 'in obitum Domini Johannis Asgill. A.M. et collegij Diui 'characters' of 'a Libertine Zealot' and 'a young raw preacher', the latter taken from Earle's Microcosmographie. Ther are also medical recipes transcribed from George Bate: Pharmacopoeia Bateana, and similarly 'Receipts taken out of salmons English [sic] Phisitian', apparently in the autograph of Morys Oliver.
