Material relating to various aspects of the coalmining industry in general, and to matters concerning the Coal Owners Association, such as wage rates, taxation, the improvement of docks and railways, the Sliding Scale, accidents, disputes and strikes at collieries throughout South Wales. Material includes Board, Council, and committee minutes; circulars; notices; reports; letters; bills and newspaper cuttings.

Photocopies of papers assembled by Neil Evans whilst researching the Senghennydd mining disaster, 1913, including transcripts of letters from Will Fisher, one of the rescue team, to his cousin; a diary ('the little black book') of the rescue work which inspired Luther Thomas to write his novel The Deep of the Earth (London,1956); together with book reviews and letters, 1966, from the author; and a photocopy of Rev Emlyn Stephens, History of Ebenezer English Baptist Church Senghenydd 1896-1946.
