History

The Bench of Bishops of the Church in Wales comprises the six diocesan bishops and two assistant bishops, and 4-6 times per year to consider a wide range of issues on behalf of the Church. These might include: plans for using different forms of ministry to carry out the Church's mission in the different dioceses of Wales; the Church's views on different ethical issues as they arise; discussions with other churches in Wales and further afield on areas where the churches can work together for the common good; the selection of men and women as candidates for ordained ministry, and the appointment of clergy to posts within the Church; advising other bodies in the Church (such as the Governing Body and Representative Body) on issues where there may hold implications for the teaching, mission and ministry of the Church; and the development of new material for church services.
