Biographical history
Sir Charles Thomas-Stanford (1858-1932) was born into a prosperous shipping family, and was mayor of Brighton, Sussex, 1910-1913, and Conservative Member of Parliament for Brighton, 1914-1922. Primarily a classicist (one of his best-known works was an edition of Euclid's Elements), he had a keen interest in archaeology, early books and local history, and collected many historical records in the course of his research. He was President of the Library Association in 1908, and also a member of the Court of the National Library of Wales.

Deeds and other records, 1538-1826, relating to properties mainly in Merionethshire, particularly lands formerly belonging to the dissolved monastery of Cymer [p. Llanelltyd] near Dolgellau, and the rectory of Llanegryn, Merionethshire.
