Biographical history

Charles Davies, Baptist minister, was born in Llwynhendy, Carmarthenshire. He attended the Graig Academy in Swansea before enrolling at the Baptist Theological College, Llangollen. Ordained in 1870, Davies accepted a ministerial post at Penuel church, Bangor before transferring to the Baptist church at Everton Village, Liverpool in 1877. He became minister of the Tabernacle Welsh Baptist church, Cardiff in 1888, remaining until his death in 1927. Notable in his time as a passionately evangelical preacher, Davies was elected president of the Wales and Monmouthshire Baptist Union in 1899. He published a volume of sermons (Llangollen, 1910) and a centennial celebration of Tabernacle Baptist church (Cardiff, [1914]), and was also a regular contributor to Baptist periodicals.
