They consist of poetry, including 'An Essay on the Characters &c. of the Governors of the Boro' of Carmarthen', 1789, 'From plain Truth addressed ... to the Cambrian Sappho' by Mrs. [Maria Justina] Cowell, 1802, 'The Carmarthenshire Parson and a Freeholder. A Dialogue' by [Lewis] Lewis, rector of Clovelly, 1802, etc.; a state of the poll for the hundred of Cayo in the Carmarthenshire election, 16 July - 2 August 1802; holograph and autograph letters, 1807, of Herbert Lloyd, Carmarthen, [Lord] Robert Seymour, Llandilo, and Danl. Price, Junior, Talley; addresses to the Freeholders of the county of Carmarthen by 'A Freeholder', 1807, and to Lord D[ynevor] by 'A Carmarthenshire Freeholder', undated; and printed matter including a poem entitled 'County of the borough of Carmarthen. A statement signed by Ebenezer Richard on behalf of the Cardiganshire Calvinistic Methodist monthly meeting, held at Ponterwyd, 19 September 1833, certifying that Phillips was 'an Accredited Preacher in the Welch Calvinistic Connexion'; a letter, 5 December 1839, from Lewis Edwards, Bala, to Phillips; an account of 'The Bangor Controversy - 'Dadl Bangor'' occasioned by a lecture given by Phillips at the Tabernacle Chapel, Bangor on 19 November 1850 on 'Romanism, the Church and Dissent'; a copy of John Phillips: Dadl Bangor, yn cynnwys Sylwadau a draddodwyd mewn Darlith Gyhoeddus ... (Caernarfon, 1852).

Fifty-three letters and cards, 1948-1974, from the artist and writer David Jones to Saunders Lewis, discussing his creative work, the Welsh language, aspects of Welsh and Classical antiquity and literature, the Roman Catholic faith and culture in general. Drawing on f. 51 and inscriptions on ff. 10-13, 29 verso, 36 verso, 44 verso. Also included are three letters, 1937, from David Jones to Margaret Lewis, written during her husband's imprisonment (ff. 91-3 verso) and a copy of a speech by David Jones, delivered in absentia when he was awarded the honorary degree of DLitt by the University of Wales in 1960 (ff. 21-7).
