Scope and content
Papers mainly from legal cases involving Lewis Pryse of Woodstock and Gogerddan, his widow Margaret Pryse, and Edward Loveden Loveden, husband of Lewis Pryse’s daughter, also named Margaret, [post-1753]-1792, and later notes, 1828. They include actions of trespass and ejectment to recover the mines at Esgair Fraith, 1772-1781, and Cwmsymlog, 1791; and actions in replevin, brought by Mathew Davies against agents of the Pryse’s tenant at Bwlchystyllen, 1784-1828. Other disputes concern financial issues between Edward Loveden Loveden and Samuel Wilson Warneford, trespasses on the Gogerddan estate, the title to a mill and debts owed to Thomas Lewes..
