Papers from cases brought against Thomas Powell of Namteos shortly after the election at Cardigan in 1729. The case brought by his opponent, Richard Lloyd [of Mabws], describes the corruption and violence surrounding the election. Depositions of witnesses, made before Thomas Pryse, mayor of Cardigan, suggest that Thomas Powell was the prime suspect.in the murder of Thomas Howell of Tre-main.
