Brogyntyn, near Oswestry, Shropshire, is a country house and seat of the Ormsby-Gore family, Barons Harlech, and previously the seat of their ancestors, the Lacon, Maurice and Owen families. During the 19th century Brogyntyn was frequently anglicised to Porkington. The Ormsby-Gores had extensive estates in Montgomeryshire, Meirionethshire, Denbighshire and Caernarfonshire, and Shropshire in England, and in Counties Leitrim and Sligo in Ireland. Some of the Welsh property was affected by the construction of the Mawddwy Railway (opened 1865) and Cambrian Railway. Longueville and Co. were the family solicitors.
