A volume compiled, 1811-1830, by Thomas Llewellyn of the parishes of Cardigan and Ferwig, Cardiganshire, chiefly containing arithmetical exercises but also miscellaneous notes and memoranda in English and Welsh, perhaps partly composed by him and partly derived from printed sources. These include a bidding letter for the marriage of Mary Owen and John Williams, both of the parish of St Dogmaels, Cardiganshire, 1816; draft documents relating to property in Cardigan and Ferwig; love letters and verse in English, including a number of Valentine rhymes; prognostications in Welsh and English on the weather and on lucky and unlucky days, together with astrological notes; two apparently unpublished ballads in Welsh, one of them, perhaps by Thomas Llewellyn, recounting a case of alleged slander by Sara Evans, a Methodist, against the Rev. John Herring (1789-1832), Baptist minister at Cardigan; and a transcript of the title-page of The [Supposititious] Works of Aristotle (Arbroath, 1801) (not recorded in the Nineteenth Century Short Title Catalogue).

Notebook of William Jones ('Gwilym Brynaman', 1867-1915), of Brynaman, co. Carmarthen, and Los Angeles, California, containing mathematical exercises, 1887 (pp. 1-36), and fair copies of poems, mostly in Welsh, composed by him, 1902-14, and including poems entered for competition at eisteddfodau in North America and Wales.

A volume of exercises in commercial arithmetic and precedents of invoices compiled in 1826 by William Saunders Davies, a native of Brynhafod and afterwards shopkeeper of Felin-fach, co. Cardigan.

Letter-book of Thomas Bowen of Pen-bre, co. Carmarthen, superintendent of the Kidwelly and Llanelly Canal and Railway Co., comprising an inventory of the company's records, 1831 (ff. 1-4), copy and draft letters, 1838-1840 (ff. 5-136 verso), a humorous poem on the failures of an anonymous colliery proprietor (ff. 151-5) and an arithmetical problem in Welsh, English and Latin (ff. 155 verso-6).

Exercise book, 1884, of Elizabeth Herbert (b. ca. 1869), Pen-lan, Lledrod, co. Cardigan, later the wife of Peter Davies, Belle Vue Farm, Llanilar, co. Cardigan, written while she was a pupil at Lledrod Board School, containing exercises in arithmetic, English composition and grammar, geography, history, letter-writing, and music.

Notebook, 1842-1853, of Thomas Williams, Felin-fach, Pumsaint, afterwards of Talley, co. Carmarthen, surveyor, and schoolmaster at Cwmdwr (Llanwrda), and Gwynfe, containing memoranda relating to rates, etc. in the parish of Talley; mathematical exercises; accounts, with names of pupils, relating to schools at ?Salem (Llandeilo) and Llan-crwys (inverted text ff. 72, 75 verso-6); and miscellaneous notes.

A school exercise book of Miss M. Storey, Beaumont Cote, 1874, with exercises in arithmetic and book-keeping, and notes on agriculture; and a typescript copy of a short novel entitled 'Ianto Dafydd' depicting Welsh life in the nineteenth century, submitted for competition at the National Eisteddfod held at Bangor in 1902.

A bilingual address delivered by Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Fardd') at the Tremadoc Eisteddfod, 1850; a statement by W. J. Roberts ('Gwilym Cowlyd Chief Bard Positive') on 'The farcical proclamation of an Eisteddfod at Llandudno'; and a notebook containing exercises in algebra and arithmetic by Ellis Pierce in Everton, Liverpool, 1863, and a short account of the presentation of a testimonial to Elias Owen.
