Biographical history
Every year before 31 May the Secretary of the Order had to send, according to the Friendly Societies Acts 1896-1929, an annual return to the Registrar of Friendly Societies, on forms prescribed by him, containing details of Districts' finances. The returns were compiled by the Provincial Corresponding Secretary and had to be sent, under General Rule 25(5) of the Order, to the Secretary of the Order before 1 March. The Corresponding Secretary in turn based his returns on returns furnished by the secretary of each Lodge within the District. Two copies of the District returns were made, one of which was forwarded to the Secretary of the Order and the other which was retained by the District.
