Biographical history
Ywain Goronwy ap Griffith (1882-1963) of Tywyn, Merionethshire, was an architect. He was born in India, the son of Dr Griffith Evans (1835-1935), Bangor, Caernarfonshire, a bacteriologist and pioneer of protozoon pathology. As an architect he had wide business connections in Merionethshire and was regarded as an expert in his profession. He served as architect to the Diocese of Bangor. During the Second World War, he served in the Admiralty as a marine architect, making frequent voyages to Malta and elsewhere. He died on 27 September 1963 at the age of 81.

Professional papers of Ywain Goronwy ap Griffith comprising agreements, specifications, plans and correspondence, 1927-53, mainly relating to the alteration, repair and erection of new buildings, both private and public, in Merionethshire, Montgomeryshire and Caernarfonshire; files relating to work done in the diocese of Bangor, mainly in the form of alterations and repairs to vicarages, 1932-1952; and papers, 1920-40, relating to the redemption of tithe rent-charges in various parishes of Anglesey, Caernarfonshire, Cardiganshire and Merionethshire.
